
Franciscan Aid has been supporting projects in Sri Lanka for many years. Working with the First Order Brothers and, more recently, the Third Order school in the North of Sri Lanka has been able to receive educational equipment since 2012. In Vhilaw, support has been given to make it possible for family-run business to set up to provide sustainable incomes because they have the finance to buy machinery to make sweets and popcorn and so sell them on in the community.

An 80year old lady who was bedridden for many years was in great need of a wheel-chair.

Because of Franciscan Aid funding, it was possible for the wheelchair to be made locally, which enabled her to get outside and sit in her garden.

Recently Franciscan Aid has been able to assist and orphanage in Kandy. Sadly because of heavy rains and storms a school building was damaged by a landslide. Franciscan Aid , being a small charity cannot fund re-building, but is able to support some of the costs towards replacing educational equipment, which was lost because of the land-slide damage.
